seahorses and shells Media: Porcelain & Bone China
Coastal seascape, rock pools, found treasures on a beach inspire my shell forms. Having made plaster moulds, I slip cast using porcelain and bone china clays. I use shiny coloured glazes to enhance the interiors or Ewen Henderson glaze with copper to give exterior surfaces a weathered appearance.
Having rolled thin sheets of porcelain, I print my drawings of shells and sometimes poetic text on to the clay. I then use slips and glazes to created sea shore imagery.
